Pitch analysis happens on your device. Audio is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Microphone and audio processing
The microphone measures the fundamental frequency, note, and deviation from the target pitch in real time. Access requires your permission through iOS. Audio is processed temporarily on your device; it is not recorded or saved as audio files, or sent to our servers or third-party servers. No tuning history is stored.
Information stored on your device
Settings such as reference pitch, instrument and tuning selection, Auto / Manual mode, theme, and language are stored on your device, along with custom tuning names and the note and octave of each string. This information restores your preferences and provides tuning features. It is not sent to our servers. No account is required, and the tuner works offline.
Collection and sharing
The app does not display ads or track you for advertising. We do not collect, sell, or share with third parties the audio, measurements, settings, or custom tunings processed on your device. Information you voluntarily send in a support inquiry, and information handled by Apple services, are addressed separately below.
Retention, deletion, and microphone permission
Audio is processed temporarily for measurement; no saved recordings exist. Settings and custom tunings remain on your device until you change or delete them. You can delete custom tunings in the app. Deleting the app also removes its local app data. Offloading the app may retain data. Manage data included in device backups through Apple's backup settings.
You can revoke StringTuner's microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings. Without permission, microphone-based pitch detection is unavailable. We cannot access data stored on your device, so you must delete that data on the device yourself.
Apple services
Apple handles purchases, downloads, and payments through the App Store. The app does not obtain your credit card details. Apple's handling of purchases, diagnostics, and backups is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your device settings. The on-device processing described here is separate from processing by services Apple provides independently.
Support inquiries and your rights
If you contact us, we use the email address, name, message, and other information you choose to send to respond and resolve your inquiry. Please do not send unnecessary personal information or audio. We retain inquiry information only as long as needed to handle the matter, then delete it unless retention is required by law.
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of inquiry information we hold about you. Please use the contact details below.
Changes to this policy
If app features or information practices change, we will update this page and its last-updated date. Where appropriate, we will notify you of significant changes in the app or by other suitable means, and seek consent where required by law.
